Prenatal & Postpartum
Doula Training and Services
Welcome!
I’m Kathrin.
I thoroughly believe that we are meant to birth and parent our children with the bodies, love, mind, intuition, and soul we are given.
I thoroughly believe in a culture where birth is just, inclusive and free of fear.
I just as thoroughly believe that we are not meant to do this on our own. Over thousands of years we have had people around us to guide, hold, love, feed, help, show, and teach us. Doulas do exactly that. I feel strongly about nobody giving birth by themselves and being postpartum by themselves.
Since 1993 I have studied, learned, and worked on how to exactly do that. I’m originally from Switzerland and have worked on the NICU as an RN for several years before moving to Los Angeles where I now live with my husband, our two sons and our fabulous dog, Echo.
My professional background includes over 29 years of birth and postpartum doula services. Presently, I have shifted gears and am focusing on sharing my knowledge through education & training to aspiring postpartum doulas who also share a passion for serving & helping families through the postpartum journey.

What
can a Doula
do for you?
The most commonly known doulas are birth and postpartum doulas. Here is a short overview of both. If you would like more detailed information, please read my blogs.
The birth doula supports you in 2 – 3 visits during pregnancy, stays with you during the entire birth and does 1 postpartum visit.
The postpartum doula does 1 prenatal visit and starts the services once you have given birth and you’re home with your child. The postpartum doula will be with you regularly, days or nights, for about 5 – 8 weeks postpartum.
In either case, the doula will provide emotional, physical, and informational support to you and your partner/family and does not do anything clinical or medical.
