Doula Training and Services

Welcome!

I’m Kathrin.

Who I Am
I believe we are meant to birth and parent our children with the bodies, love, intuition, and soul we already have. I believe in a culture where birth is just, inclusive, and free of fear and that no one is meant to do it alone.

Why Support Matters
Throughout history, families have been surrounded by people who guide, hold, love, feed, and teach them. In other words, support has always been essential. That’s the heart of doula work. Doulas remind families that care, guidance, and rest are not luxuries, they are necessities.

My Journey
Since 1993, I’ve dedicated my career to learning how to offer that support in meaningful, evidence-based, and heart-centered ways. I’m originally from Switzerland, where I worked as a registered nurse in the NICU before moving to Los Angeles. Now empty nesters, we watch our two sons follow their own paths in college.

Sharing Knowledge Through Training
With more than 30 years of experience as a birth and postpartum doula, I now focus on sharing what I’ve learned with others through education and mentorship. As a postpartum doula trainer based in Los Angeles, I offer live, interactive doula training workshops and online postpartum doula courses for those who feel called to support families through this tender transition.

My goal is to help new doulas feel confident, competent, and connected to their work, to their clients, and to a larger community of care. Through my postpartum doula certification trainings, I aim to nurture both professional skill and personal growth. I believe that when doulas are well-prepared and supported, families thrive.

Your Next Step
Whether you join me in Los Angeles or online, my mission is the same: to inspire and empower you to step into this work with knowledge, compassion, and heart. Together, we can build a community of care where families thrive—and where doulas feel fully prepared to make a difference.

What

can a Doula

do for you?

The most commonly known doulas are birth and postpartum doulas. Here is a short overview of both. If you would like more detailed information, please read my blogs.

The birth doula supports you in 2 – 3 visits during pregnancy, stays with you during the entire birth and does 1 postpartum visit.

The postpartum doula does 1 prenatal visit and starts the services once you have given birth and you’re home with your child. The postpartum doula will be with you regularly, days or nights, for about 5 – 8 weeks postpartum.

In either case, the doula will provide emotional, physical, and informational support to you and your partner/family and does not do anything clinical or medical.
